original 'Little Church'  Adult Faith Formation Calendar: 2007/2008 / Resource Room / Contact Us

Our spiritual journey does not end with our school days. Each stage of life presents us with struggles, insights, challenges and questions. The Adult Education courses, the Spiritual Offerings and the Support Ministries offered through the Resource Room try to meet these needs and to enhance the spiritual lives of the adults of this community.

ITEMS OF INTEREST

Our second annual “One Book, One Parish” selection is Abraham by Bruce Feller. Please join us in the spring reading and then discussing this book. Small groups will be arranged to facilitate lively discussions.

We will celebrate Martin Luther Kings Jr.’s Holiday with Jazz Vespers led by Wenonah Brooks and her musicians. Please mark your calendars.

The Labyrinth will be available for Lenten devotions the weekend of February 23 & 24, 2008. The Labyrinth is an ancient form of walking meditation. It is a winding pattern on which one walks. In the Middle Ages it was used in place of a pilgrimage to the Holy Land. The most famous one is in Chartes Cathedral.

Resource Room

For all those who are thirsting for an ever-deepening relationship with God, and a greater knowledge of our Catholic Faith, the Resource Room offers a wellspring of spiritual riches.

The Resource Room, which is located in the Family Center, is a lending library open for self-service after each mass and on weekdays. Materials for adults and children can be found here. Books, audio & videotapes, magazines and retreat information are located in this room.

Activities Conducted from the Resource Room:

Ministry to Bereaved Families

  • Funeral Assistance: Our staff meets with the family at the time of death to extend the sympathy of the parish and to assist them in planning the Funeral Mass and the Wake Service.
  • Lazarus Group: We try to bring the presence of God to a bereaved family. If the family wishes, a luncheon will be provided after the funeral in the Family Center.
  • Bereavement Committee: At the time of death, we extend the sympathy of the parish to the family of the bereaved via a personal note of condolence. We also send cards of remembrance on the first anniversary of the death because we recognize the need for ongoing support throughout the grief process.
  • Memorial Service: A Memorial Service to honor beloved family and friends is celebrated each year on All Souls Day.
Samaritan Group: This is a ministry to the homebound or temporarily disabled. Transportation, meals, visiting, respite care and shopping are available upon request. Contact Sue Ziegler (737-2488) for information or services.

Morning Prayer Service:: Each Wednesday Morning at 6:30 A.M. in the Rectory there is a prayer service open to anyone who would like to begin their day in prayer and reflection.

Centering Prayer: Lectio Divino and Centering Prayer are offered every Tuesday at noon in the Resource Room. One-half hour of scripture reflection and prayerful silence is offered.

Miriam Ministry: Women gather every Thursday from 10:00-11:30 A.M. to grow in wisdom ,strength and faith, through prayer, reflection and sharing.

Saturday AM Men's Group: This group meets bi-weekly on Saturdays from 8:00-9:00A.M and uses a book of daily meditations as the core of their prayer and reflection.

May your hidden goodness come forth to meet you,

May blessings rise up to anoint you,

May your wounds become your teachers,

May your heart be open to healing,

And may Christ be your constant companion.
